Henk Pen, Groenlo
A 7.2 MWp solar roof with battery storage and EV charging, at Europe's largest camper & caravan centre.
7.2 MWp from 14,000 panels that are the roof, the solar PV we engineered and built.
At Laarberg business park in Groenlo, Europe's largest camper & caravan centre (Henk Pen, spanning more than 50,000 m²) runs on the sun. For our partner Koolen Industries Total Solutions (KITS), a 7.2 MWp system was built where 14,000 panels (505 Wp each) form the physical, greenhouse-style roof rather than sitting on top of it. The wider site also features battery storage and EMS-controlled EV charging, together generating over 6,000,000 kWh a year, enough for around 2,000 households.
Green Teams Europe delivered the DC engineering and DC installation of the solar PV array, designing and building the heart of the system to the highest safety and quality standards, despite the tight grid connection (two 3×80 A utility connections under grid congestion). The battery storage and EV-charging systems on site were delivered by others.
What we did: DC engineering
- String and array design across the 7.2 MWp roof-integrated PV system
- DC layout and calculations to match the panels, inverters and connections
- Documentation and engineering support for a complex roof-integrated array
And: DC installation
- Installation of the panels that double as the building's roof
- Complete DC wiring and string assembly to the inverters
- Safety-first execution and clean as-built handover
